Veterinary Assistant, Surgery
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Schedule: Full Time | Varying Schedule | Weekdays Only
Compensation: $20-23/hr, Dependent On Experience

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient exams, treatments, diagnostics, and medical procedures to deliver exceptional patient care.
• Monitor surgical and hospitalized patients, providing attentive nursing support and recognizing changes in patient condition.
• Prepare patients for surgery by performing surgical prep, maintaining sterile technique, and supporting the team throughout surgical procedures.
• Collect and prepare laboratory samples while ensuring surgical equipment and treatment areas are clean, organized, and ready for use.
• Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, and fellow team members to ensure seamless patient care and continuity throughout each shift.
• Educate and support pet owners by providing compassionate updates and clear discharge and home-care instructions.
• Maintain accurate medical records and document patient treatments, observations, and communications in a timely manner.
• Help foster a clean, safe, and efficient hospital environment while always advocating for the health, comfort, and well-being of every patient.

What You Bring

• The ability to remain calm, adaptable, and focused while working in a fast-paced, dynamic clinical setting.
• A genuine passion for animal care and a desire to learn, grow, and build your veterinary skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to providing compassionate care to patients and exceptional service to clients.
• A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Previous veterinary, clinical, or animal handling experience is preferred, but not required—we're happy to train motivated individuals.
• The ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds unassisted and comfortably perform the physical responsibilities of the role.
• A dependable work ethic, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to support your teammates while delivering outstanding patient care.
