Athletic Trainer - North Montgomery MS/HS (Crawfordsville, IN)

Job Summary $5,000 SIGN ON BONUS Serves the needs of the community through providing evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, coordination of care and preventive care for musculoskeletal and neurological injuries. Provides education to patients, patients' families, hospital associates and the community. Serves as liaison between patients and family, physicians, and hospital services. Position is for the second athletic trainer in the school district splitting time between middle school and high school. Location: 30 minutes from Lafayette, 45 minutes from Avon and 1 hour from Downtown Indianapolis. Responsibilities Evaluates injuries, provides warranted first-aid, treatment and makes appropriate follow-up referrals to the team, family or specialist physician. Provides high quality care and education to athletic injuries to achieve goals such as: Restoration of mobility and strength Prevention of disability following injury Returning the athlete to maximum athletic performance Prevention of re-injury Provides care to middle school, high school, and young adults to middle-aged athletes. Supervises rehabilitation of the injured athlete and assesses readiness to return to participation. With the involved physician, determines the athlete can return to athletic activity. Provides coverage of in-season and off-season practices and athletic competitions at the high school and/or middle school levels. Maintains an adequate level of supplies, requests orders for replenishment, and ensures equipment safety. Provides education to the athletic director, coaches, athletes, and parents in the prevention, care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Provides supervision and assistance in the purchase and fitting of athletic equipment including braces, bandages, taping and other active assistive devices. Follows established procedures and observes safety precautions in the use of heat, cold, light, water, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, massage, therapeutic and sports-specific exercise, taping, counseling, education, and exercise equipment. Responsible for administering and maintaining the training room. Active in the decision-making process regarding transportation of athletes on and off the field and assists in this transportation. Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation on athletes treated. Follows documentation guidelines and relays pertinent information to physician, athletic director, coach, parent/guardian, and athlete. Assists in determining schedule, as it pertains to coverage at school responsibilities, with the Sports Medicine Program Coordinator and meets established schedule requirements. Maintains high quality level of skills and participates in ongoing educational opportunities to maintain certification. Participates in presentation and preparation of in-services concerning job training. Maintains current CPR certification. Follows program, department and hospital policies and procedures. Supports hospital's mission, values statement, strategic plan and vision. Supports program and department service statements and philosophies. Participates in providing coverage for community athletic events as deemed necessary per Sports Medicine Program Coordinator. Education and Experience Graduate of a CAATE approved athletic training curriculum program or internship program. Prefer one year experience as an athletic trainer, but not essential. Licensure / Certifications Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Indiana. National certification as an athletic trainer through the BOC, Inc. Certified CPR.
