Veterinary Assistant

At Berclair Animal Hospital, we've been caring for pets and their families in Memphis and the surrounding communities for more than 60 years. As a Veterinarian Assistant , you'll play an important role in supporting our veterinarians, veterinary technicians, patients, and clients throughout the day. What You'll Do

In this veterinary role, your responsibilities may include:

• Safely restraining patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures
• Triaging incoming veterinary patients and helping the team prioritize care
• Collecting and processing laboratory samples
• Assisting with diagnostic imaging, including digital radiographs
• Providing nursing care and monitoring hospitalized patients with varying levels of stability
• Administering medications as directed by the veterinary team
• Obtaining medical histories and communicating treatment plans and instructions to clients
• Preparing patients for surgery and assisting with veterinary surgical procedures
• Supporting anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery
• Helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming veterinary environment

Our hospital uses modern veterinary technology and diagnostic tools, including ultrasound, digital X-ray, in-house laboratory capabilities, and other diagnostic equipment . You'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced veterinarians and veterinary technicians while gaining exposure to a wide range of cases and services.

We're looking for someone who has:

• At least 1 year of veterinary assistant experience
• Weekend and holiday availability 
• Strong animal handling and restraint skills
• Experience with sample collection, medical histories, laboratory testing, and radiographs
• An interest in continuing to develop veterinary skills and knowledge
• A self-starter mindset and willingness to learn
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Anesthesia monitoring experience is a plus
