This broad footprint offers team members exposure to cutting-edge projects and diverse technical environments.Role Description This full-time, on-site Technician role is based at Calspan’s main automotive testing campus in Buffalo, NY. The Technician supports test operations by setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment and instruments used in automotive and related testing activities. Daily tasks may include preparing test vehicles or components, performing mechanical and electrical checks, collecting and recording test data, and assisting engineers in executing test plans. The role also involves troubleshooting equipment issues, performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance, and ensuring work areas and tools are organized and compliant with safety standards. Technicians collaborate closely with engineering staff, follow detailed procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement of test processes and workflows.QualificationsTechnical skills in equipment setup, operation, and maintenance, including basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.Competence in data collection, recordkeeping, and use of measurement tools and test instrumentation.Ability to read and follow technical drawings, procedures, and test plans with strong attention to detail.Understanding of safety practices in a lab or shop environment and adherence to company and regulatory standards.Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineers and other technical staff.Strong organizational skills, time management, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced testing environment.High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate or associate degree in a relevant field (e.G., automotive technology, engineering technology, mechanics) preferred.Prior experience in a testing, automotive, aerospace, or industrial environment is beneficial.Willingness to learn new tools and technologies and adapt to evolving testing needs.
