Picture this: you clock in at a local shop in the Elkhart, TX area, represented by Express Employment Professionals (Athens, TX). You review the day’s drawings, prep your station, and run clean GMAW beads with .035 hardwire—every pass aligned to AWS D1.1. By day’s end, structural components are squared up, inspected, and ready to ship because you made it happen.

What you’ll do

• Lay down MIG (GMAW) welds on structural steel using .035 hardwire.
• Interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols to plan each weld.
• Set up and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions as projects require.
• Perform visual inspections to verify quality and code compliance.
• Work to AWS D1.1 structural welding standards.
• Prep and finish parts using grinders, clamps, and related shop tools.
• Collaborate with your team to hit production targets while maintaining safety.
• Keep your work area organized and clean.

What you’ll bring

• Must pass a FlexiblePass AWS D1.1 weld test with .035 hardwire (pre-employment).
• 2+ years of MIG welding experience in a structural steel or industrial environment preferred.
• Comfort with standard welding procedures, shop safety, and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

• Soldering
• Welding setups for production
• Vehicle & fleet welding
• Blueprint reading
