This role is ideal for a highly organized and clinically experienced Medical Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and is passionate about team development, continuous improvement, and patient-centered care.Position SummaryThe Lead Medical Assistant serves as a key clinical and operational resource within the practice. This individual supports daily clinic operations, oversees workflow optimization, assists with quality assurance initiatives, provides ongoing training and competency validation for Medical Assistants, and collaborates with leadership to maintain efficient patient flow and operational consistency. This role combines hands-on clinical responsibilities with leadership, coaching, quality oversight, inventory management, and process improvement initiatives.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Staff DevelopmentProvide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to Medical Assistants.Lead by example in professionalism, accountability, patient care standards, and workflow efficiency.Assist with onboarding, orientation, and cross-training of new team members.Train and validate competency for clinical procedures, point-of-care testing, injections, specimen collection, and workflow processes.Conduct ongoing weekly/monthly skills checks and reinforce compliance with clinical standards.Support leadership with staff coaching, performance feedback, workflow reinforcement, and development planning.Assist with troubleshooting workflow barriers and identify operational improvement opportunities.Support implementation and adoption of new workflows, initiatives, and clinical processes.Clinical Support & Patient CareRoom patients and prepare exam rooms.Obtain and document vital signs and medical histories.Administer injections and assist with procedures.Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection (if applicable).Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation within the EHR.Support providers with patient throughput, workflow efficiency, and time management.Deliver patient-centered care with professionalism, empathy, and effective communication.Workflow & Clinic OperationsHelp oversee daily clinic flow to maintain operational efficiency and positive patient experiences.Monitor patient throughput and door-to-door times, identifying delays and escalating operational barriers as needed.Audit workflows to improve communication between front desk and clinical teams.Support continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives and process standardization across the clinic.Laboratory, Quality Assurance & ComplianceOversee daily lab QA/QC processes and ensure completion of required controls and documentation.Maintain lab binders, procedure logs, competency records, and reconciliation documentation.Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, infection control, and clinical quality standards.Monitor expiration dates, inventory accuracy, and completion of required quality checks.Inventory & Supply ManagementMonitor and maintain inventory of medical supplies, vaccines, lab materials, and equipment.Manage SIMS/Kanban inventory workflows and ensure timely supply replenishment.Ensure exam rooms and clinical areas remain clean, organized, compliant, and fully stocked.Patient Experience & CommunicationFoster a welcoming, respectful, and professional environment for patients and staff.Address patient concerns with professionalism, urgency, and empathy.Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and service excellence.QualificationsRequired QualificationsPrevious experience as a Medical Assistant or similar clinical role.Strong understanding of clinical workflows, patient care procedures, and outpatient operations.Experience with Athena EHR and Microsoft Office.Excellent communication, organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.Preferred Qualifications2+ years of experience in a lead or senior Medical Assistant role; or 6+ years of Medical Assistant experience.Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred.Experience in primary care or outpatient clinic settings preferred.Performance ExpectationsMaintain high standards of clinical quality, documentation accuracy, and operational consistency.Ensure timely completion of QA/QC logs, competency validations, and inventory processes.Promote accountability, efficiency, and adherence to organizational standards.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance patient care and clinic operations.Why Join EPIC Health?Career Growth OpportunitiesLeadership DevelopmentCollaborative Team EnvironmentMission-Driven CultureCompetitive Compensation & BenefitsOpportunity to Make a Meaningful Impact in Patient CareVisit to learn more.*Background checks are required for this role.*
