CustodianShady Side Academy Senior School - Pittsburgh, PA 15238OverviewPosition Type: Full Time Job Shift: Any Education Level: High School Travel Percentage: Negligible Category: EducationDescriptionReporting to the Director of Facilities, a Custodian's responsibility is to provide a safe, attractive, clean and comfortable environment for students, staff and the general public.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSweep classrooms, dust furniture and shelving, and dispose of refuse daily in assigned work areasClean corridors after school each day and during the day when conditions require it.Scrub and disinfect toilet room floors and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains in assigned work areas daily.Maintain all floors in a clean and attractive condition as well as in a good state of preservation.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must successfully complete state-required clearances and training in regard to the prevention and reporting of child abuse.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routing reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small groups or employees of the Academy.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with ten's and hundred's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to drive between Academy buildings.
