New England Jewish Academy, located in West Hartford, CT,  is seeking an assistant for its growing Early Childhood division. We are a close-knit group of educators who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of our students. We are looking for someone who is patient, caring, and has a love for teaching. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience in an Early Childhood position or have a degree in a related field. 

The assistant will:

• Be responsible for aiding in the overall supervision of a group of preschool children and perform activities that ensure the safety, involvement, and creativity of each individual in the group. 

• Work cooperatively with the lead teachers in the preparation and implementation of daily plans in accordance with the current curriculum and ECC standards

• Be available to conduct daily small-group activities for an assigned group of children 

• Assume responsibility for a classroom as necessary 

• Collect required anecdotes and information for required ongoing assessments  

• Observe and/or participate in parent-teacher conferences  

• Provide coverage for breaks for other staff members  

• Supervise daily lunch and playground activities, field trips, and walks

• Promote individualized attention for children 

• Acquire knowledge of and support the current curriculum in the classroom

• Support the mission and values of the school
