Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Tacoma, Washington.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Labor and Delivery\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 09/21/2026\n Duration: 16 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 21, 2026\n Length: 16 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN with an active WA or compact license and at least 2 years of L&D experience for a 12-hour night shift assignment in a high-acuity birth center.Details\n \n Level II Trauma Center with a Level IV NICU on-site\n Birth Center unit with 34 L&D beds (15 labor rooms, 12 antepartum, 4 OB ED, 3 OR) and 18 postpartum beds\n High acuity patient population including hypertension, Mg administration, C-sections (33% rate), preterm labor, insulin drips, vaginal deliveries, epidurals, inductions, antepartum patients, PROM, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage\n Up to 300 deliveries per month\n Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 active labor, 1:2 non-active labor, and 1:2-3 antepartum depending on acuity\n 12-hour night shifts scheduled for 36 hours per week\n Weekend rotation is every other weekend, with variability based on need\n Floating required to antepartum (within L&D) and occasionally postpartum (4th floor), within scope and experience\n No mandatory on-call requirements, though open shifts may be picked up as needed\n Requirements\n \n Active WA or compact RN license required\n Current BLS, NRP, and Intermediate FHM (AWHONN) certifications required\n Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required for travelers, with 5+ years preferred\n Experience managing and delivering high-risk OB patients, triaging OB patients, circulating in OR, performing cervical checks, and interpreting fetal monitoring strips\n EPIC EMR experience required\n Additional Information\n \n Provide labor management and delivery care for high-risk OB patients\n Serve as a second set of hands to receive and recover normal newborns as needed, with APGAR scoring support\n Work alongside a robust support team including CNAs, LPN/NRP-certified scrub techs, receptionist/HUC, floating charge nurse, resource RN, dedicated break nurses, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and 24/7 laborist coverage with residents/fellows and additional physicians/midwives\n CAP orientation includes hospital orientation plus 2 weeks on the unit and 1 week working independently\n Holiday coverage expected on a fair and equitable basis\n Scrubs are provided by the facility and must not be worn outside of the building\n Free badge-access parking available in designated areas\n First-time travelers will be considered upon review\n RTO requests must be submitted prior to contract approval\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-743441.
