Positions are available in Omaha, NE; Richmond, VA; Albany, NY; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Houston, TX; and Rockwood, PA. Summary We are looking for a highly capable Garage Bodily Injury Claims Adjuster to adjudicate commercial claims and provide superb results for our clients. Essential Responsibilities Working under technical direction and within significant limits and authority, adjudicate Garage Bodily Injury claims of higher technical complexity with a direct impact on departmental results. Resolve issues that are generalized and typically not complex, but require understanding of a broader set of issues. Conduct detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to find solutions to issues that are numerous and undefined. Report to senior management and underwriters on claims trends and developments. Identify loss drivers and claims trends to reduce claims frequency and severity through data analysis and improved claim management. Analyze claims forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions, and other records to determine whether the loss falls within the policy coverage. Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing all involved parties. Manage claims in litigation. Manage diary timely and complete tasks to ensure that cases move to the best financial outcome and timely resolution. Properly set claim reserves. Identify, assign, and coordinate the assignment and coordination of expertise resources to assist in case resolution. Prepare reports for file documentation. Apply creative solutions that result in the best financial outcome. Negotiate in a timely and effective manner to provide cost‑effective solutions for the company and its customers within own limits using a range of negotiation styles. Process mail and prioritize workload. Complete telephone calls and written correspondence to/from various parties (insured, claimant, etc.). Show an appreciation and passion for strong claim management. Qualifications / Experience Required A practical knowledge of commercial claims, as well as an exceptional customer service focus. Minimum of two years’ experience adjudicating first and third party commercial Garage Bodily Injury claims. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required. Two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience adjudicating garage bodily injury claims beyond the minimum experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree. Licensed Claims Examiner (based on state). Must be licensed or able to obtain a license in each jurisdiction requiring a licence to adjudicate first‑party claims within 120 days. Good business acumen and the ability to exercise sound judgment independently. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships. Excellent evaluation and strategic skills. Strong claim negotiation skills; ability to take a proactive and pragmatic approach to negotiation. Strong customer focus. Effective time‑management skills and the ability to prioritize workflow while handling multiple tasks and deadlines. Ability to articulate the financial value of work at multiple responsibility levels inside clients’ businesses. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance. Demonstrate integrity and the courage to do the right thing on a daily basis. Focus on execution and the ability to consistently produce expected results. Problem‑focused mindset and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment that is constantly evolving. Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with clients, business partners and organizational peers. Natural intellectual curiosity, consistently exploring and considering all options without conventional thinking. Use of listening and questioning techniques to gather information from insureds and claimants. Understand mechanisms available for resolving claims settlement disputes (e.g., arbitration and mediation) and when these are used. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and other business‑related software. Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in reading and writing English. Demonstrated desire for continual professional development through continuing education and self‑development opportunities. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Guidewire is strongly preferred. Compensation Base salary ranges for eligible locations: Albany and Chicago: $86,000 – $101,500 Los Angeles: $93,750 – $110,500 Salary ranges for other locations may vary. All employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance and receive a generous benefits package.
