Job Title: Purchasing Clerk

Location: Houston, TX

Pay: $22-$23 / hour

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Position Summary:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Clerk to support their purchasing and procurement operations in a manufacturing/industrial environment. This position is primarily focused on data entry, purchase order processing, vendor follow-up, and maintaining accurate purchasing records.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders in QuickBooks.
• Enter and maintain accurate part numbers, quantities, pricing, due dates, shipping information, and other purchasing data.
• Review purchase requisitions and purchasing requirements for completeness and accuracy.
• Send purchase orders to vendors and obtain order acknowledgments and confirmed delivery dates.
• Follow up with vendors regarding open purchase orders, late shipments, backorders, and delivery issues.
• Update purchase orders when quantities, pricing, delivery dates, or other requirements change.
• Maintain accurate vendor and purchasing records within the ERP system.
• Communicate purchasing status, material shortages, and potential delays to planning, production, and other departments.
• Coordinate with receiving and accounting to resolve discrepancies involving purchase orders, receiving documentation, packing slips, invoices, quantities, and pricing.
• Assist with matching purchase orders, receiving documentation, and vendor invoices as needed.
• Maintain organized electronic purchasing documents and vendor correspondence.
• Assist Purchasing personnel with reports, data entry, filing, and other administrative duties.
• Maintain professional and productive relationships with suppliers and internal departments.
• Ensure purchasing information is entered accurately and in a timely manner.
• Perform other purchasing and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
• Experience working with an ERP system required.
• QuickBooks experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy.

Preferred Skills:

• Manufacturing or industrial purchasing experience.
• QuickBooks experience.
• Experience with purchase orders and three-way matching.
• Experience working with inventory, materials, parts, or production-related purchasing.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
