Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the PACU provides specialized post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery or procedures, ensuring their safety and stability during the critical phase of recovery. They deliver expert nursing interventions, monitor patient progress, and facilitate safe transfer to appropriate care settings.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients’ physical and psychosocial status during recovery from anesthesia.
• Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and manage airway to ensure patient stability.
• Recognize and respond promptly to life-threatening conditions or complications.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care instructions and discharge procedures.
• Document all patient care activities accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).

Qualifications:

• Valid CA Registered Nurse (RN) license and Nursys verification within the last 2 weeks.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Minimum of 2 years recent clinical experience in critical care or PACU settings.
• Demonstrated proficiency with airway management, central line care, and post-procedure monitoring.
• Excellent critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
