Direct Support Professional Caregiver

Job Description

The Direct Support Professional Caregiver provides compassionate and individualized care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Adult Day Program setting. Working primarily as part of a care team within adult day programs and teaching settings, this role supports personal care, behavioral needs, and daily living activities. The caregiver plays a vital role in promoting independence and emotional well-being for those they support, offering both one-on-one and group assistance in a structured, fixed-shift environment that may include occasional local travel.

Responsibilities

Assist with personal care tasks to maintain dignity and hygiene
Provide behavioral support to foster positive outcomes
Prepare meals and assist with feeding as needed
Support mobility and physical assistance requirements
Offer emotional support and foster effective communication
Collaborate with the care team to support individuals with disabilities
Participate in adult day programs and teaching activities
Document observations and support progress within the program

Preferred Qualifications

1+ years experience in direct care roles
Skills in behavioral support and intervention
Strong communication skills for effective interaction
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Observation skills and accurate note-taking ability
