Senior Project Manager Senior Project Manager role description: Huitt‑Zollars has a great full‑time opportunity for Senior Project Architect at our Houston Downtown office. This role assists the design teams through all project phases—including business and client development, programming, design and construction documents, and construction administration—while maintaining strong client relationships. The ideal candidate will have experience in Institutional, Commercial, and/or Public Works markets. Location Houston, Texas Reports To Senior Vice President/Principal‑in‑Charge Employment Type 40 FT Hours Compensation Salary Registration Registered Architect Education Bachelor of Architecture from an NCARB accredited program Duties Leads technical design for the office and directs a multi‑disciplinary team to produce design documents for a wide variety of building types. Plans, directs, and monitors all aspects of projects with a high degree of technical complexity. Supervises project team’s work cooperatively with the project manager and project designer. Coordinates workload within project teams and works with other project directors to manage workload across the office. Ensures project development, documentation, and its completion meet schedule, budget, code requirements, and technical quality requirements. Ensures compliance with contract terms and conditions. Reviews work and proposes changes to design, and to comply with building codes and budget. Prepares plan of action to resolve project issues. Prepares bids or assists with contractor selection process. Assists market sector teams in preparing proposals and participating in new project presentations as requested. Collaborates with project teams to solve tough problems and provide creative design solutions. Key Responsibilities Undertakes Project Manager responsibilities for major projects (≥ 2.0 million annual billing). Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project, ensuring appropriate staff is assigned and utilized. Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track progress and budget, leading successful projects (profit, on‑schedule, quality, satisfied client). Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects. Cultivates relationships with clients and maintains strong client relationships. Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt‑Zollars’ business process, including weekly rhythm. Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and is responsible for assigned portion of office sales goal. Assists or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and proposals). Develops and executes project win strategy. Understands and follows HZ QMS and quality initiatives, ensuring quality control measures are adhered to on projects and daily operations. Actively engages and participates in training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff. Understands duties and responsibilities, possessing necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintaining job knowledge current. Registered Licensed Architect in Texas required. 12 years of experience in the profession as an Architect. Demonstrated building construction technical experience. Experience in Institutional, Commercial, and/or Public Works markets. Ability to prioritize and deliver multiple projects with varying deadlines. Proficient in REVIT and Adobe Suite required and working knowledge of architectural tools such as SketchUp and Rhino. Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills. Ability to lead and coordinate consultant teams. Ability to interact with owners and user groups. Strong organizational and leadership skills. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion. Must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
