Physical Therapy Position

Note: This position is for the 2026-2027 school year. The salary will be based on the 2026-2027 salary schedule which is not yet approved by the Board of Education. The salary listed is based on the current year's salary schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor's degree in physical therapy.
• Registered and certificated by the American Physical/Occupational Therapy Association.
• At least 1-2 years experience.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective behavior management skills.

Reports to: Special Services

Terms of employment: 7 hours per day, 3 days per week (112 days per year)

Job goal: Assume responsibility for direct therapy and consulting activities for students requiring physical therapy as required by governing rules and regulations.

Performance responsibilities:

• Develop motor activities based on the student's individual needs.
• Provide direction in developing needed activities in the areas of sensory integration, gross and fine motor.
• Provide direction in screening motor needs of students suspected of needing occupational therapy.
• Act as a member of the multidisciplinary evaluation/reevaluation team for students suspected of needing occupational therapy.
• Provide direction in assessment instruments/techniques to evaluate student sensory integration and motor needs.
• Acts as resource to district special education staff in the awareness and implementation of occupational therapy evaluation and programming.
• Attend IEP meetings on an as needed basis for students being considered for occupational therapy services.
• Communicates with staff and parents on individual student progress.
• Oversees the supervision of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Director of Special Services may assign.
