Physical Therapy Position

Note: This position is for the 2026-2027 school year. The salary will be based on the 2026-2027 salary schedule which is not yet approved by the Board of Education. The salary listed is based on the current year's salary schedule.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in physical therapy.
• Registered and certificated by the American Physical/Occupational Therapy Association.
• At least 1-2 years experience.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Effective behavior management skills.

Reports To:

Special Services

Terms Of Employment:

7 hours per day, 3 days per week (112 days per year)

Job Goal:

Assume responsibility for direct therapy and consulting activities for students requiring physical therapy as required by governing rules and regulations.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Develop motor activities based on the student's individual needs.
2. Provide direction in developing needed activities in the areas of sensory integration, gross and fine motor.
3. Provide direction in screening motor needs of students suspected of needing occupational therapy.
4. Act as a member of the multidisciplinary evaluation/reevaluation team for students suspected of needing occupational therapy.
5. Provide direction in assessment instruments/techniques to evaluate student sensory integration and motor needs.
6. Acts as resource to district special education staff in the awareness and implementation of occupational therapy evaluation and programming.
7. Attend IEP meetings on an as needed basis for students being considered for occupational therapy services.
8. Communicates with staff and parents on individual student progress.
9. Oversees the supervision of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
10. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Director of Special Services may assign.
