Essential Duties And Responsibilities

1. Assists cook in preparing desserts or snacks for patients.
2. Assists cook in preparation of meals.
3. Carries trays to patients on halls.
4. Cleans tables in the dining area after each meal.
5. Helps with salads and desserts and other dishes.
6. Assists with the pouring of juice, milk, water, and tea.
7. Serves patients beverages, etc.
8. Takes meals out to patients in dining area.
9. Prepares between-meal nourishments (make sandwiches, etc.).
10. Cleans work area at the end of shift and after meals, including sweeping and mopping.
11. Removes garbage from kitchen areas and hoses out garbage containers.
12. Complies with infection control policies in the work area.
13. Scrapes dishes, washes dishes, pots and pans.
14. Records freezer and walk-in refrigerator temperatures in accordance with established procedures.
15. Checks stock as needed.
16. Puts up stock in appropriate manner.
17. Stores cleaning materials appropriately.
18. Sets up tray line and performs tray line service.
19. Follows diet orders and NPO diet orders.
20. Offers menu substitutions and records them in accordance with procedural guidelines.
21. Properly stores leftovers/opened food.
22. Serves nourishments in accordance with procedural guidelines.
23. Makes coffee/tea as requested.
24. Follows procedures for serving associate meals.
25. Cleans kitchen equipment such as, carts, tables, counters, ice machine, buckets, blender, mixer, meat slicer, freezer, refrigerator, stove, oven, steamer, garbage disposal, dish machine coffee/tea maker, steam table etc.
26. Operates the dish machine, garbage disposal, mixer, blender, meat slicer and steamer.
27. Operates coffee and tea maker.
28. Follows standardized recipes.
29. Uses serving equipment (ladle, spoon, scoops, etc.)
30. Checks and records water temperature (dishwasher, pot and pan sink, etc.)
31. Checks dishwasher with sanitizer strips.
32. Checks chemical levels and replaces if needed.
33. Promotes the image and reputation of the System by exhibiting servant leadership and providing direct and open lines of communication.
34. Contributes to the work of committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative efforts of the System.
35. Performs other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System.

• Communicates well with other associates, patients, family members, and visitors providing warm and friendly greeting and an approachable attitude. Responds to expressed concerns while displaying a helpful, caring demeanor, answers questions when appropriate in a professional manner.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or its equivalent preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format. The ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Application Skills
