Department Details

The 16-bed Cardiac ICU provides specialized care for patients with complex cardiovascular needs. The unit manages individuals recovering from TAVR procedures, post-operative CABG surgeries, STEMI/NSTEMI, as well as those requiring mechanical circulatory support such as balloon pumps and Impella devices. In addition, the team cares for patients following cardiac arrest, with a focus on advanced hemodynamic monitoring and comprehensive postinterventional management.

Responsibilities

• Plans and coordinates patient care, assessment, education, triage and various other nursing interventions
• Collaborates with colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care
• Empathetically cares for patients during all stages of preventive services, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up along the continuum of care
• Demonstrates competency and uses comprehensive nursing expertise

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred. Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
