Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for a degreed and experienced GIS Analyst to fill a contract position in Atlanta, GA.JOB SUMMARYThe GIS Analyst will develop an understanding of current data state, workflows and processes and develop solutions for integrations, transformations, and deliverables.This will include GIS data analysis, data mining, technical support, and database maintenance to meet internal and external customer requirements.This role requires demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and recommend the best track for data development and processing.Project work will involve process improvement, quality control, data creation from spatial and tabular sources, conversion, migration, and maintenance.EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in geography (GIS), engineering, computer science, or related field and 3+ years experience in industry standard GIS.GIS certificate and 3 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree in related discipline1+ years in a utility or pipelineJOB RESPONSIBILITIESProficiency with linear referencing techniques and concepts is highly recommendedKnowledge of the Utility and Pipeline Data model (UPDM) is highly recommended.Technical project tasks, including database design, advanced GIS analysis and modelingPerforms data mining activities to meet customer requirements/specificationsProvides specialized queries, maps and reports to meet customer requirements/specificationsPerforms application testing and documentation of defectsInterfaces with users; documents requested/needed changesIdentifies new GIS technologies/processes/applications to improve inter-/intra- departmental functionsCreates and maintains existing automated processes using Model Builder/Python scripting or other toolsProcesses, prepares and converts data to enter into GIS from a variety of data formatsAnalyzes current business processes and recommends best practice solutionsPerform QA/QC on version data that pushes to the production environmentKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESEsri ArcGIS Pro – advanced proficiencyEsri ArcGIS 10.2x – advanced proficiencyLinear referencing - advanced proficiencyMS Office suite (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) – advanced proficiencyFME by Safe Software – intermediate proficiencyEsri ArcGIS Enterprise – intermediate proficiencyUtility Network – intermediate proficiencyModel Builder – intermediate proficiencyPython – intermediate proficiencySQL RDBMS – intermediate proficiencyAutoCAD/CADD – basic proficiencyVisual Basic/VBA – basic proficiencySharePoint – basic proficiencyExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent geoprocessing and spatial analysis skillsStrong requirements review, analytical, and problem solving skillsApplication testing script development and performance of testingAbility to quickly learn and apply new technologiesAbility to function independently and as a team memberAbility to handle multiple assignments and changing prioritiesAbility to work effectively with limited direct supervision Travel (Up to...): 5%This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.JSG offers medical, dental, vision, life insurance options, short-term disability, 401(k), weekly pay, and more.
