Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, Position Description Number D0483000/D0484000/D1063000 and is part of the CO Army Aviation Support Facility, National Guard. Responsibilities WG-10: This position is responsible for the performance of the full range of aircraft maintenance duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, system, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing. Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on assigned aircraft to include pre-inspection, daily inspection, pre- and post-flight inspections and such special inspections as required, including fuel contamination checks, oil sampling, an inspection of onboard emergency equipment. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft. May be required to perform such additional duties as fire fighting, aircraft crash/rescue, snow removal, etc. Perform other duties as assigned. WG-11: Perform duties and has responsibilities understood under the military designation of Crew Chief which involves full maintenance responsibility for a required minimum number of aircraft as determined by type of aircraft. Performs Crew Chief duties with full maintenance responsibility for assigned aircraft. Accompanies pilot during flights to locate discrepancies that are not evident during ground operation. Performs the full range of preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of aircraft system, assemblies, and surfaces. Plans and conducts a flight training program for drill status crew chiefs to include maintenance instruction for assigned aircraft, the use of hand and arm signals used, ground handling of aircraft, use of ground equipment, aircraft loading, hoist operations, emergency procedures, etc. Performs other duties as assigned. WG-12: The purpose of this position is to act as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel. Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft. Requests maintenance services exceeding AASF capabilities or time constraints. Oversees ground movement of aircraft. Ensures Unit Level Logistics-Aviation (ULLS-A) and other aircraft documentation accurately reflects status and airworthiness of assigned aircraft. Clears Red X status symbols on aircraft forms for work performed by others. Plans, develops and conducts proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and support exercises. Complies with safety, fire, security, environmental, and housekeeping regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. Experience installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. 2. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. 3. Experience instructing lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container. WG-11/12 must have at least 18 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following: 1. Experience that includes responsibility for performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workers. 2. Experience coordinating the work of other journey-level workers in other trades to work simultaneously on the aircraft. 3. Experience serving as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraft. Preferred experience: -Flight qualified -FE qualified Education Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position.
