Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: Ability to read and interpret EKG strips Description: Looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in the Emergency Room. The position includes working in a 21-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:4. A charge nurse will generally not take patients but will provide break relief as needed. Aids will be available based on staffing and census. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Holidays will rotate among core staff members. Navy scrubs are required, and under shirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets are optional and must be navy. In-house Clientist or Intensivist support is available 24/7. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are also available 24/7. Shifts begin at 6:45 PM with bedside report. Extra shifts can be accessed through self-scheduling, which is finalized by management. Travelers may communicate their availability for extra shifts and trades with other staff. Floors will have specific orientation with 1 to 2 days on the floor with a preceptor. Common diagnoses include chest pain, common colds, myocardial infarctions, cerebrovascular accidents, and trauma requiring stabilization and transfer. Please note the cancellation policy allows for up to four shifts to be canceled over the duration of the assignment. The charting system used is Cerner.
