This role is built for a Solutions Architect with deep operational technology experience—someone who has designed and delivered across both IT and OT environments and is fluent in the technical realities of utility systems, control networks, industrial protocols, and hosting models. Operating at the intersection of OT engineering, enterprise IT, and private equity, you will lead diligence, integration, and value-creation workstreams for transactions involving utilities, power generation, T&D, renewables platforms, energy services, midstream, and critical infrastructure assets. You will translate technical complexity in OT/IT environments into actionable financial narratives and partner directly with target IT and operations teams to build Day 1 readiness plans that protect business continuity and safeguard deal value. What You’ll Do Full-Lifecycle M&A Advisory for Energy & Utilities Assets Diligence & Risk Assessment: Lead buy-side and sell-side technology workstreams to evaluate target OT environments (SCADA, DCS, PLCs, networks), identifying technical debt, regulatory exposures, and tech-driven opportunities to reduce OpEx and improve asset reliability. Transition & Value Creation: Partner with target IT and operations teams to execute critical Day 1 readiness plans (network cutovers, TSA exits, control system continuity) while collaborating with portfolio company leadership during the hold period to drive post-close modernization and AI-driven efficiencies. Execution & Delivery Architectural Deep-Dives: Evaluate complex hybrid IT/OT environments—including plant/substation networks, cloud footprints, and integration patterns—producing high-fidelity diagrams that surface scalability bottlenecks and security gaps. Executive Storytelling & Financials: Translate complex technical and OT findings into clear, Board-ready presentations that bridge the gap between technical metrics and financial impacts like EBITDA, CapEx/OpEx, and ROI. Engagement & Team Leadership Discovery & Pipeline Support: Lead high-stakes discovery sessions, site visits, and control room walkthroughs to extract data from unstructured environments, while contributing to the business development pipeline via pitch decks and scoping proposals. Project Leadership: Own end-to-end project scoping, workstream planning, and on-time delivery while managing consulting teams to ensure premium quality control under intense transaction timelines. What We’re Looking For Professional Experience Advisory Depth & Sector Expertise: 6–12 years in technology advisory, OT/IT consulting, solutions architecture, or technology leadership roles with deep asset-class exposure across regulated/unregulated utilities, power generation, T&D, renewables, midstream, or critical infrastructure. M&A Lifecycle Familiarity: Strong working knowledge of the private equity transaction lifecycle, with practical appreciation for the technical execution nuances of carve-outs, integrations, standalone readiness, and hold-period value creation. Technical Foundation - Solutions Architect with OT Depth OT & Industrial Control Systems: Hands-on experience designing or assessing industrial control systems (SCADA, DCS, PLCs, historians) alongside core protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC-UA) and major vendor ecosystems. Security, Infrastructure & IT/OT Convergence: Practical working knowledge of the Purdue Reference Model, IEC 62443, and NERC CIP frameworks, paired with a strong grasp of hybrid cloud hosting, major hyperscalers, and bridging operational systems with enterprise IT platforms. Strategic Mindset Value-Driven Orientation: A distinct commitment to isolating technical, infrastructure, and operational levers that directly preserve deal value or positively impact portfolio company EBITDA and reliability KPIs. Executive Presence & Operator Credibility: Proven ability to deliver brief, confident technical perspectives to C-level executives, while remaining equally comfortable collaborating in the field with engineers to earn trust across the IT/OT boundary.
