Sales Design Engineer We are seeking a polished, proactive, and professional Design Engineer to support the Commercial Lighting Sales Support Services Department. This hybrid position is located in our Plano, TX office (3 days/week). You will assist a wide variety of customers (electrical engineers, lighting designers, specifiers, contractors, end users, etc.) and interface with customers through phone, video conferencing, and e‑mail to provide Crestron solutions for sales opportunities. You will also deliver project‑specific deliverables such as specification materials, pricing, and supporting documentation; complete custom projects; design layouts and systems using AutoCAD; maintain a database of over 100 detailed drawings and documents; and perform other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Interface with customers via phone, video conferencing, and e‑mail to provide Crestron solutions for sales opportunities. Deliver project‑specific deliverables, including specification materials, pricing, and supporting documents required to win high‑profile jobs and grow the business. Complete specialized custom projects as needed to support the Sales Team, producing sales resources and tools, multitasking as needed to meet tight deadlines (up to 8-10 tasks at any time). Design layouts and systems using AutoCAD. Maintain and contribute to a database of over 100 detailed drawings and documents. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all Crestron and team policies and standards. Qualifications 2+ years of experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Revit, or other space‑planning/construction drawing software. 1+ year of experience with networking (preferred). Ability to read and understand blueprints, contract documents, and energy codes (DIV‑26 specs, IECC 2021, Title‑24, etc.). Familiarity with specific dimming technologies preferred (0‑10V, DALI, DMX, etc.). Understanding of lighting control equipment and associated manufacturers (e.g., Crestron, Lutron, Acuity, ETC, Wattstopper, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Outstanding time‑management and organizational skills. Experience working with external customers across the sales channel (e.g., specifiers, contractors, distributors, agents) preferred. Ability to travel to Crestron locations for training or team meetings, and industry/client events (5%). Ability to work on site in hybrid role 3 days/week at the Crestron Plano, TX office location. Education Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred) and/or 3+ years of equivalent training/experience. Other Requirements Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship now and in the future. Compensation The annual pay range for this position is $78,000–$103,000, which is a base salary subject to performance and may vary with location, qualifications, experience, and market factors.
