Description

American Traveler is hiring a Surgical Stepdown RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and a MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Surgical Stepdown unit in a Level II Trauma and Level II Stroke Center hospital
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Float to units of similar or lower acuity as needed
• EPIC charting system used

Requirements

• Active RN license (MO State or Compact) required, pending license accepted but must be active and in-hand prior to start
• Current certifications required: BLS, CPI, NIHSS
• ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• BSN preferred
• Level II Trauma Center experience required
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience with cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Experience with IV insulin protocols

Additional Information

• Provide stepdown-level nursing care to surgical, cardiac, renal, neurological, and orthopedic patients
• Manage patients with CVA, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, and traumatic brain injury
• Care for patients requiring BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
• Support pre/post hemodialysis and renal failure management
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate within a 50-mile radius
• Previous employees must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Previous travel experience preferred but first-time travelers may be considered
