About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 Year License: NY License Required Certifications: BLS and NIHSS Required Must-Have: Must have NY license in hand. First-time travelers accepted. Locals must be within a 75-mile radius. Patient ratios from 1:5 to 1:7 for MedSurg. Description: The PCU is a critical care step-down unit that provides exceptional, evidence-based care to patients. It receives patients from various areas, including emergency and intensive care units. The patient population consists of adult, acute care patients needing specialized care. All patients will have continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring. Care includes airway management, acute BIPAP support, and management of IV infusions. The unit has a collaborative team approach to patient care. Key responsibilities include interpreting dysrhythmias and responding to emergencies. Experience with EPIC charting is required. The unit maintains a staffing model with assigned patient ratios ensuring focused care. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, respiratory services, and social services. Patients may present with a variety of medical diagnoses, especially pulmonary conditions.
