Staff Perception Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Our client is hiring a Staff Perception Software Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team developing advanced aerospace perception systems for real-time environmental detection and response.

This role focuses on building machine learning and computer vision capabilities for an autonomous aerial platform operating in complex, safety-critical environments.

What You’ll Do

• Develop real-time perception systems for aerospace applications using ML and first principles
• Help define and evolve perception and computer vision architecture
• Optimize models for low-latency performance on resource-constrained airborne systems
• Research and prototype solutions using multi-modal sensor data (visual, thermal, LiDAR, RADAR)
• Design and build scalable software, tools, and infrastructure
• Write high-performance, well-tested code and contribute to design and code reviews

What You Bring

• 6+ years of experience in computer vision / machine learning software development
• Strong proficiency in C++ (C++11 or later)
• Experience with sensor-driven perception systems , ideally in aerospace or robotics
• Strong grounding in mathematics and probabilistic modeling
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment

Nice to Have

• Experience with real-time sensor fusion for aerial or autonomous systems
• Background in geospatial, mapping, or aerial data processing
• Experience building and scaling ML models and infrastructure
• Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, OpenCV, Unreal Engine, and Linux
• M.S. or Ph.D. in a relevant field (or equivalent experience)
• Must be US Citizen or Green Card holder
