Dial-A-Ride Driver and JanitorJob Objective: Transport clients to appointments in a timely, kind and courteous manner and assist with food programs. Perform janitorial functions.Essential Functions:Dial-A-Ride DriverSchedule and transport clients to their appointments promptlyComplete and maintain individual client recordsCollect fees and turn in daily to corps officer officeCleanliness and maintenance of van. Report van needs/repairs to corps officerAnswer cell phone and return calls as neededComplete daily schedule form, including mileage and turn in dailyRecord and complete monthly Salvation Army program statisticsComplete and maintain Dial-A-Ride vehicle maintenance log, daily vehicle checklist and other records as requiredFile reports and paperworkIssue client fee receipts as neededHandle emergencies as they ariseOperate Salvation Army vehicles for pick up/delivery and the transport of personsPick up food at HarvestersAssist with monthly commodity distributionCollect and deliver weekly food donationsTransport bell ringers to kettle sites during ChristmasJanitorSweep, mop, scrub and vacuum hallways, stairs, restrooms, classrooms and office space kitchen and dining areaEmpty trashUse basic hand tools to perform minor painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical and other related maintenance activitiesInspect and notify management concerning needs for major repairs, safety or security issuesAdvise direct supervisor of janitorial and building supply needsProvide routine outside maintenance. Assist with cleaning snow and debris from sidewalks. Follow schedule for cleaning windows, furniture, floor polishing, etc.Set up furniture for meetings as requiredGeneralMay direct work activities of volunteers or community service personnelOther duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Education: High School diploma or equivalentExperience: Transportation and custodial experience; working with senior citizens and disabled individualsCertifications/Licenses: Class E driver's license or aboveSkills/Abilities :Detail orientedAbility to organize and carry out work plan with minimum supervisionGood communication and time management skillsSound judgment, problem solving and conflict resolution skillsAbility to handle multiple demands and priorities.Must possess strong interpersonal skillsAbility to use office equipment including telephone, personal computer and copierMust be supportive of The Salvation Army missionSupervisory Responsibility: NonePhysical Requirements: Include speaking, hearing and vision; manual dexterity; standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, climbing; lifting, pulling and pushing of materials up to 50 pounds.
