Cherry Bekaert's expanding Risk Advisory Services practice is helping financial institutions navigate increased regulatory complexity, operational risk, and business transformation. As a Internal Audit Associate (Financial/Operations) , you'll gain exposure and develop your expertise across a broad range of banking operations while collaborating with experienced professionals, building meaningful client relationships, and making an immediate impact.

As a Risk Advisory Internal Audit Associate (Financial/Operations), you will:

• Work alongside a collaborative team to execute internal audit and risk advisory engagements for financial institution clients
• Assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls across financial, operational, and regulatory functions
• Perform risk assessments and reviews to identify opportunities for improved controls, efficiency, and compliance
• Monitor engagement progress, helping ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships by delivering valuable insights and exceptional service
• Support audits and advisory projects across areas such as:
  • Lending
  • Deposits
  • Asset Liability Management (ALM), Interest Rate Risk (IRR), and Liquidity
  • Investments and Borrowings
  • Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL)
  • Accounting and Financial Reporting
  • Trust Operations
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • FDICIA and SOX

What You Bring to the Role:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline
• Progress toward or completion of a relevant professional certification including CIA, CFSA, CBA, CPA, or CFE
• One or more years of experience in professional services, internal audit, banking, or credit union environments
• Knowledge of federal and state banking regulations
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and client-focused environment
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building capabilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and business technologies
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed, not expected to exceed 25%
