About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: Experience working in a typical MedSurg population, including but not limited to chest pain, COPD, acute mental status changes, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and abdominal pain. Ability to read telemetry strips, as RNs must collaborate with telemetry monitor technicians. Experience with titratable and set rate drips. Description: The position is for a stepdown unit with 32 total beds, where 12 are designated as stepdown. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3 for stepdown and 1:4-6 for floor patients. The unit experiences a variety of typical medical-surgical cases, and overflow support may be needed for most services. RNs should be prepared for patient care, including but not limited to hospice patients when required. A charge nurse is budgeted per unit, and a house supervisor is always available. Staffing primarily includes RNs, with the presence of nurse assistants when fully staffed. RNs may float to other floors or units as needed. Weekend and holiday work is mandatory as per the nursing schedule. The dress code is royal blue scrubs. The charting system utilized is EPIC.
