Working closely with the Principal Investigator and collaborating with scientists, clinicians, trainees, and institutional partners, you will help drive a dynamic research program focused on HPV-associated malignancies, radiation response, patient-derived models, biomarker development, and clinical specimen-based research.

As a scientific leader within the Colbert Laboratory, you will help shape research strategy, guide multidisciplinary projects, and support the development of novel translational oncology initiatives.
What You'll Do:
Lead Scientific Research Initiatives Provide scientific leadership across multiple translational oncology research projects.
Support research efforts focused on HPV-associated cancers, radiation biology, patient-derived organoid platforms, and biomarker discovery.
Participate in experimental design, scientific planning, and prioritization of research activities.
Identify scientific and operational challenges and develop solutions that support successful project outcomes.
Contribute to new translational research opportunities and collaborative scientific initiatives. Drive Program & Project Coordination Coordinate multidisciplinary research activities involving investigators, clinicians, trainees, computational scientists, and external collaborators.
Develop and maintain project timelines, scientific milestones, and progress reporting tools.
Organize recurring research meetings and ensure timely completion of project deliverables.
Promote project management practices that enhance transparency, efficiency, and research reproducibility. Advance Translational Research Development Lead the development and optimization of patient-derived organoid models and related translational platforms.
Coordinate integration of molecular profiling, multi-omics data, and functional validation studies.
Support protocol development and implementation for translational clinical research and biospecimen-based investigations.
Facilitate collaboration across laboratory and clinical research programs to accelerate scientific discovery. Support Grants, Publications & Scientific Communication Contribute to preparation of grant applications, progress reports, manuscripts, and scientific presentations.
Coordinate scientific contributions from multidisciplinary collaborators for collaborative funding opportunities.
Identify potential funding mechanisms aligned with laboratory priorities.
Communicate complex scientific findings clearly to investigators, trainees, collaborators, and institutional stakeholders. Mentor & Develop Future Scientists Provide scientific mentorship and guidance to research staff, students, and trainees.
Develop laboratory training resources and standardized research workflows.
Promote rigorous scientific methods and reproducible research practices. Strengthen Research Infrastructure Assist with development of new laboratory capabilities and research infrastructure.
Support implementation of collaborative research initiatives across institutional programs.
Contribute to strategic planning efforts that support continued growth of translational oncology research. Why Duke?

Anticipated Salary Range: $52,477 - $79,504 annually

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $52,477.00 to USD $79,504.00.
