Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU Nights Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Waxahachie Department: NICU / Nursery Special Care Shift: Full Time Nights – 3, 12‑hour shifts, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM About Our NICU Level II NICU with planned expansion to Level III 6‑bed NICU within a comprehensive Women’s Services program (expansion underway) Department includes: 6 Labor & Delivery rooms 2 Operating Rooms 2‑bay PACU 11‑bed Postpartum unit Total Women’s Services team: ~70 members Position Overview The NICU Registered Nurse delivers specialized nursing care to neonates requiring close monitoring and advanced support. This role collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to provide high‑quality, compassionate care to infants and their families. Qualifications Prior NICU experience Graduate of an accredited nursing program Active RN license BLS (Basic Life Support) certification NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) preferred or required within a specified timeframe What You’ll Do Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs Create, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans, adjusting as necessary to reach desired outcomes Build therapeutic relationships, manage patient and family discomfort, and maintain professionalism Educate patients, families, nursing staff, and community members, documenting learning needs and progress Delegate tasks appropriately and follow up promptly with colleagues and community collaborators Apply problem‑solving strategies, recognizing limitations and prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency Contribute to team effort, recognize contributions, and commit to continuous growth and community service What Will Make You Successful In The Role Deep understanding of nursing and patient‑care standards and procedures Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines; familiarity with hospital policies Proficiency in medical terminology, disease prevention, management, and medication knowledge Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written Positive social skills for interacting with a diverse range of stakeholders Excellent problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, electronic medical documentation, and other systems Benefits Our benefits are designed to help you live well, with coverage and eligibility starting on day 1.
