Position overview:

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all inbound and outbound logistics, warehouse facilities, and raw material, work in process, and finished goods inventory. The Warehouse Manager collaborates with various internal departments and stakeholders to gather shipping/receiving requirements, evaluate priorities, and allocate resources accordingly. They utilize scheduling tools and software to plan and execute outbound shipments. Additionally, the Warehouse Manager trains and maintains adequate warehouse personnel.

Reporting to the Production Control Manager, the Warehouse Manager will work closely with the management team and operations teams to strive for the highest possible level of support and professionalism. Other important duties include communicating directly with customers about their shipments, ensuring inventory levels are accurately reported through cycle counts and adjustments, making suggestions for process improvements, and training & managing warehouse personnel. Relevant Key Performance Indicators include: Delivery in Full On Time (DIFOT), Shipping Accuracy, Inventory Accuracy, Safety Incident Rate, Order Cycle Time.

Responsibilities:

Inbound Logistics & Receiving

• Oversee receipt of incoming goods; verify shipments against purchase orders. Document discrepancies (damage, shortage, etc.) and coordinate with Purchasing department for resolution.
• Ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and storage of incoming materials and updating inventory records in ERP/MRP software.
• Coordinate with suppliers and freight carriers to optimize delivery schedules and freight costs.

Outbound Logistics (Shipping)

• Prepare and package finished goods for shipment, adhering to customer specifications (labeling, packing slips, bills of lading).
• Schedule and coordinate carrier pickups and other deliveries; track shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
• Communicate shipping status or delays to Planner/Scheduler and Production Control Manager.
• Communicate with customers on a regular basis regarding order shipments.

Inventory Handling & Storage

• Maintain a clean, well-organized warehouse area; ensure items are stored correctly to avoid damage or mix-ups.
• Collaborate with production team to stage raw materials and finished goods efficiently.
• Perform, reconcile cycle counts on raw, WIP, and finished goods inventory and packaging (returnable/expendable). Identify root causes of inventory discrepancies and implement action plans to address and prevent recurrences.
• Ensure inventory levels in ERP/MRP systems are accurate at all times.

Warehouse Management

• Supervise & train all warehouse personnel.
• Ensure warehouse procedures are documented and documentation is maintained.
• Ensure proper inspection and documentation is performed on company vehicles, coordinate with maintenance department for repairs and service.

Safety & 5S Initiatives

• Adhere to all safety protocols for handling and moving materials and maintaining and enforcing a safe workplace.
• Implement and maintain 5S and other lean principles to maintain an organized and safe working environment compliant with OSHA and internal standards.

Cross-Functional Support & Continuous Improvement

• Participate in daily/weekly production meetings and shutdown/holiday planning.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements to reduce material costs, inventory holding, and waste.
• Support Production Control & Logistics team functions and serve as back-up when needed.
• Monitor and drive KPIs including DIFOT, Inventory Accuracy, Purchase Price Variance, and Supplier On-Time Delivery.
• Hands on in all areas, serves as a back-up for critical functions.
• Other duties, as needed

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in materials management, or warehouse operations.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical reasoning skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills – listening, verbal, written, & presentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk and hear.
• Ability to lift and or move up to 50 lbs.
