We are seeking an experienced Installation Technician IV to support telecommunications infrastructure projects throughout Florida. This is an advanced field position for a technician who can independently complete complex installations, equipment turn-ups, troubleshooting, maintenance, and power-related work with minimal supervision.

The technician will work on central office and telecommunications infrastructure projects involving structured cabling, integrated voice and data systems, transport equipment, AC and DC power systems, ironwork, networks, and wireless equipment. The position also involves customer coordination, project documentation, quality assurance, safety oversight, and occasional leadership of supporting technicians.

Project availability and assignments may vary based on customer demand. When a role-specific installation assignment is not available, the technician may assist with related telecommunications or construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, test, and turn up telecommunications equipment and infrastructure.
• Perform rack-and-stack activities, equipment swaps, cabling, troubleshooting, and remote technical support.
• Support primary power, secondary power, and DC power systems.
• Install and maintain central office equipment, including transport equipment, AC systems, ironwork, and supporting infrastructure.
• Complete additions, removals, changes, upgrades, and maintenance associated with service contracts.
• Test completed wiring and equipment installations for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate power cuts with customers during approved maintenance windows.
• Develop and present methods of procedure for customer approval.
• Stage equipment and verify material inventories for accuracy.
• Prepare engineering change requests or red-line documentation when work requirements or specifications change.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and submit final customer paperwork on time.
• Complete quality-assurance procedures and inspect finished work for errors.
• Communicate with customers, end users, technicians, vendors, and project stakeholders.
• Attend project-planning and progress meetings.
• Provide technical support to customer contacts and field technicians.
• Assign tasks to supporting technicians when required and monitor work for quality, efficiency, and safety.
• Maintain assigned tools and ensure required calibrations remain current.
• Promote and follow applicable environmental, health, safety, and telecommunications standards.
• Occasionally support outside-plant installation activities.
• Assist with ground support, site preparation, equipment maintenance, warehouse work, or other related telecommunications and construction projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least six years of telecommunications or related infrastructure experience.
• Advanced field-installation experience with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Hands-on DC power experience.
• Experience with primary and secondary power systems.
• Equipment testing and turn-up experience.
• Strong Smart Hands capabilities, including:

  • Remote technical support
• Proficiency with structured cabling and integrated voice and data systems.
• Experience with telecommunications networks, key systems, or wireless equipment.
• Ability to write and present methods of procedure.
• Ability to read project requirements, identify necessary changes, and complete red-line or change documentation.
• Strong understanding of installation quality, safety, and project-completion requirements.
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers, vendors, technicians, and project stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully perform advanced Technician III-level responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Vocational or technical-school education.
• Experience leading or directing supporting technicians.
• Central office installation experience.
• Experience with transport equipment, ironwork, AC systems, and related telecommunications infrastructure.
