About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PCU/Med Surg/Oncology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Chemotherapy certification preferred, not required Description: RN's must pass a skills exam during orientation. This is an open book exam with necessary resources provided. A minimum score of 90% is required to pass. Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care departments. Refusal to comply will lead to contract termination. Experience with oncology and PCU is preferred but strong PCU experience without oncology is acceptable. Charge nurse experience is not required. Ratios for days are 1:4-1:5 and nights are 1:4-1:5. Self-scheduling is available but will be balanced to meet unit needs. Travelers may float to other Med/Surg and PCU units while maintaining the same level of care. Common drips/medications include chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix. RNs should be comfortable with titration of insulin and Cardizem drips. Travelers may encounter respiratory equipment such as high-flow and BiPAP. Support staff includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, and various therapists. Hourly rounding and bedside shift report are key focuses for patient experience. The team values nurses who genuinely care for patients and embrace teamwork. A diverse patient population is cared for with respect, from diagnosis through remission or compassionate end-of-life care. Cancellation policy allows the hospital to cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. Charting system used is Epic.
