Position Overview Mobile Diesel Technician Level II Duties Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile field environment. Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and more. Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment across electrical, brake, cooling, air conditioning, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches and differentials. Inspect, test and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections. Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, or satisfy expectations. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lift jacks. Document work according to company standards and upload pictures, parts used, and findings to Repair Orders (RO) using the company‑issued iOS device and proprietary TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation in a timely fashion. Operate independently and manage own daily schedule. Maintain high productivity and work within or close to standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary. Communicate with management and support team via email or phone for repair estimates, purchase order approvals, and discussion of RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Maintain the company‑issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and perform daily pre/post‑trip inspections. Requirements High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of related experience (alternatively a higher degree or certification plus 5 years of experience). Possess a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months. Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment. Provide a current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining, or complete a DOT physical if less than four months remain. Be at least 21 years old. Hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Certifications Required: ASE T8 (PMI) Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), ASE T4 (Brakes), ASE T5 (Suspension), ASE T6 (Electrical & Electronic Systems), ASE T7 (HVAC), ASE 608/609 Skills & Abilities Understand the implications of new information for current and future problem‑solving and decision‑making. Lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods while performing moderately heavy labor. Perform repetitive tasks without tiring over extended periods. Communicate information succinctly and organize ideas; engage in effective two‑way communication. Determine appropriate tools and equipment for a given task. Compensation Hourly pay rate ranges from $29.42 to $44.13 per hour, varying by location and candidate qualifications.
