Cardiology NP/PA: Lead Patient Care & Innovation

Job Overview Are you a driven and compassionate Cardiology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant looking to make a significant impact in patient care? Join the busiest cardiology service in the UNC Healthcare System, where you’ll utilize the latest clinical guidelines, innovations, and technologies. Responsibilities Clinical: Obtain relevant health and medical history, perform a thorough physical assessment, review and interpret pertinent diagnostic tests and results. Develop appropriate differential diagnoses and implement treatment plans including prescribing/ordering evidence‑based pharmacological agents consistent with departmental guidelines. Actively incorporate evidence‑based hospital initiatives, conduct preventive health screening, and maintain comprehensive patient records. Maintain knowledge of general disease processes and specialty literature. Prioritize work, assist staff for efficient patient flow, and meet productivity standards. Lead or participate in projects to improve productivity and perform medical procedures consistent with guidelines. Education: Provide professional education to clients, families, clinicians, staff, and students. Develop educational materials and provide instruction to various healthcare team members. Recognize and pursue self‑learning needs. Leadership: Provide instruction and precepting to physicians, nursing, and students. Participate in community outreach, develop programs, and lead systems improvements. Professionalism: Interact respectfully with patients, families, and coworkers, respond promptly to customer needs, and share responsibility for workload. Quality & Research: Engage in continuous quality improvement, consult with management, lead interdisciplinary teams, revise protocols, and develop new clinical programs to improve patient care. Preferred Qualifications Cardiology Experience Preferred Education Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. Licensure and Certification Requirements Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA registration. Professional Experience Requirements No prior experience required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated clinical competency. Effective leadership skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills. Effective interaction to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting. Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
