Job Overview

The Special Procedure Technologist plays a vital role in supporting the nursing and physician teams by managing the technical aspects of daily operations. This position involves assisting the Interventional Radiology team in preparing for, conducting, and finalizing all examinations, whether departmental or otherwise. The technologist is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality control and assurance while ensuring patient comfort during procedures.

Qualifications
  • Required:
    • Current and valid ARRT and NJ DEP licenses.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
    • At least 2 years of experience in radiology is preferred.
    • Experience in Procedural Interventional Radiology is preferred.
Scheduling Requirements

This is a part-time position requiring 40 hours per week, structured as four 10-hour shifts, including on-call and weekend rotations.

Essential Functions
  • Assist in organizing the daily work schedule and preparing examination rooms.
  • Collaborate with physicians to ensure accurate orders, x-ray requisitions, and lab results.
  • Manage technical exposure factors using both digital and conventional equipment to minimize radiation exposure, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Program digital computers, film stands, and contrast injectors as needed.
  • Oversee radiation safety and protection protocols, and coordinate continuing education efforts.
