Part‑Time Associate Veterinarian – Family Friends Veterinary Hospital We’re looking for a part‑time veterinarian to provide comprehensive care at Family Friends Veterinary Hospital in Citrus Heights, California. Position Overview As a part‑time veterinarian, you will maintain predictable hours with a consistent home hospital assignment, allowing you to stay clinically engaged while balancing personal commitments. Compensation and Benefits Overview Salary Range (full‑time equivalent): $155,000 - $180,000 Part‑time compensation prorated based on experience and hours worked Generous sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance No negative accrual and no non‑compete Paid time off, holidays, and a comprehensive benefits package Signing and retention incentives up to $50,000 CE stipend and licensing/dues reimbursement Emotional wellbeing support, including Calm app access and 24/7 EAP Strong culture of care and national resource support Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups Communicate and educate clients Conduct diagnostic procedures and surgery Maintain accurate medical records Prescribe medications and follow controlled substance protocols Promote teamwork and staff efficiency Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations Evaluate and monitor protocols for daily hospital operations Attend daily rounds to uphold high standards Participate in practice management updates and training Perform other duties as assigned by management Qualifications (Required) DVM or VMD from an accredited college or university Current California Veterinary License DEA registration 1+ years of veterinary practice experience Strong diagnostic and clinical skills Excellent surgical and dental skills Team‑oriented work style Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to compassionate and high‑quality care Ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients Strong client communication and rapport skills Confidence and reassurance when handling stressed or injured animals Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform moderate physical tasks Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Advanced clinical knowledge in cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, etc. Problem‑solving skills for veterinary hospital management Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and staff Professionalism and constructive feedback culture Business acumen for hospital operations and finances Ethical decision‑making in patient care Commitment to continuing education and mentorship PetVet is an equal opportunity employer.
