Operating in a collaborative environment, you will provide invaluable support to a large government contract following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and project-specific guidance to perform experiments rooted in Genetics and/or Molecular Biology, conducting research and testing on basic and applied principles of microbial, human, and animal life, including anatomy and function of biological systems in simple and complex settings. The data that you collect will be used to perform technical evaluations and/or assessments of biologics, biological mechanisms, or biological properties.This position offers an exhilarating opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic, multidisciplinary team committed to advancing scientific knowledge and solving our customer's toughest challenges.This full-time position is contingent upon contract award and will be located in San Antonio, TX.ResponsibilitiesPerform routine and non-routine laboratory procedures independently with guidance from senior scientists, with activities to include:Perform experiments in accordance with structured regulatory and quality frameworks (e.g., ISO 9001:2015)Support laboratory testing to develop new methods and/or adapt published assays to new purposesIndependently analyze and troubleshoot standard experimentsAssist in preparing technical data tables, figures, and interpretations for reports and presentations, peer reviewed publications, and client meetingsInteract professionally with internal and external clients, leadership, and team membersAssist with materials inventory/ordering, equipment maintenance, experimental scheduling, etc.Follow established safety guidelines to safely work with hazardous/infectious (RG2) materialsSome domestic travel is possible but not anticipated.Key QualificationsBachelor's degree in molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, or a related fieldAt least one year of professional experience performing any of the following: nucleic acid extraction using commercial and ad-hoc methods, nucleic acid purification and quantification, spectrophotometry, gel electrophoresis, non-radioactive Southern and Northern blotting, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or quantitative (q)PCR, recombinant DNA methods, epigenetic regulation evaluation, sequencing, microarrays, etc.Proven ability to conduct laboratory experiments in accordance with written proceduresGood oral and written communication skillsSelf-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment with competing prioritiesAbility to work in a team environmentSole U.S. citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as a condition of employmentSufficiently medically fit to work in the laboratory to perform assigned duties including the ability to wear personal protection equipment (PPE), lift up to 50 pounds, and work in the proximity of hazardous/infectious materialsPreferred QualificationsExperience working within laboratory quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 17025, 21 CFR Part 58 GLP)Experience drafting experimental methodsActive or previously held security clearanceBenefits: Live an Extraordinary Life We care about your well-being, not just on the job.
