Patient Access Representative - Behavioral Health

Job Description The Patient Access Representative conducts professional patient interviews to obtain demographic, financial, and biographical information. Responsibilities include understanding insurance terminology, verifying patient insurance eligibility, confirming benefits eligibility, and gathering statistical information in compliance with federal and state regulations. The role also involves completing payment transactions, negotiating to collect money owed, and arranging referrals to payment plans or credit resources. The representative delivers quality performance and service excellence, using strong computer skills, critical thinking, and the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced work environment. Responsibilities Conduct patient interviews and collect required data. Verify insurance eligibility and confirm benefits coverage. Complete payment transactions and negotiate collections. Reference patients to financial resources such as payment plans. Serve as first point of contact in ambulatory clinics, completing patient registration and check‑in. Maintain clinic documentation, including medical records and referrals. Collaborate regularly with clinic staff, leadership, and providers. Achieve a quality score for career ladder levelI as determined by Patient Access Leadership. Maintain a minimum of 92% on customer service reviews. Meet productivity goals where applicable. Qualifications Applicable experience: less than 1 year. Strong computer and critical thinking skills. Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment. Basic knowledge of registration procedures and insurance terminology. Demonstrated customer‑service skills. Ability to perform registration in at least one location.
