Job Description

The Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician participates in total and preventive maintenance (TPM) activities for all equipment and facilities in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment. This role focuses on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment, including robotics and automated controls.

Responsibilities

• Perform total and preventive maintenance (TPM) on all plant equipment and facilities to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production and facility equipment.

• Work with industrial robots and automation systems, including Fanuc and ABB, to maintain, repair, and support their operation.

• Support and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems, including Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs, using schematics and technical documentation.

• Conduct electrical maintenance and electrical troubleshooting on machinery and systems, with an emphasis on safety and reliability.

• Interpret and work from electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals to identify and resolve equipment issues.

• Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on molding equipment and related systems used in manufacturing processes.

• Execute preventive maintenance tasks on a scheduled basis to reduce unplanned equipment failures and extend equipment life.

• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, assess root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.

• Collaborate with controls technicians and other maintenance team members to support complex automation and control projects.

• Work independently on assigned tasks, including weekend work when required, to ensure production goals are met.

• Balance responsibilities that are approximately 70% electrical and 30% mechanical, adapting to changing maintenance needs.

• Support production demands by working additional hours as needed based on manufacturing volume requirements.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area and follow all facility safety procedures and guidelines.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting, with the ability to work from electrical schematics.

• Mechanical maintenance experience, including working with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial environment.

• Industrial maintenance with exposure to high-volume manufacturing operations.

• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining PLC systems, including Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs.

• Ability to work with and troubleshoot industrial robots, including Fanuc and ABB systems.

• Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.

• Ability to perform preventive maintenance on a wide range of manufacturing and facility equipment.

• Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and take initiative to complete tasks.

• Willingness to work on weekends and extended hours as needed to support production volume.

• Comfort working in a role that is approximately 70% electrical and 30% mechanical.

• Capability to read and interpret technical documentation, including schematics and equipment manuals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with molding equipment and processes in an industrial manufacturing setting.

• automotive manufacturing or experience supporting automotive suppliers.

• Familiarity with troubleshooting complex automation systems that integrate robotics and PLCs.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with a controls-focused team and other maintenance technicians.

• Strong sense of ownership, with a willingness to jump in and do what is needed to get the job done.

• Comfort working across multiple shifts and adapting to changing production requirements.

Work Environment

The role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing facility that supports automotive production. The position involves working with advanced technologies such as Fanuc and ABB robots, Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs, and a variety of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The PLC-related work is limited to no more than approximately 8 hours per week. The primary opening is on third shift, scheduled from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, with additional hours as needed based on production volume, often resulting in 6 to 7 days per week. There is also a need for technicians on second shift and a controls-focused technician on first shift. A shift differential is provided for second and third shifts. The environment emphasizes safety, reliability, and teamwork within a modern, well-maintained production setting.

This is a Permanent position based out of Chattanooga, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $66500.00 - $83200.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
