LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) - Assisted Living

Responsibilities of an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) – Assisted Living Direct day‑to‑day operations of a designated nursing assignment in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines governing assisted living facilities. Provide and monitor resident care to ensure professional nursing care per AL policies, Health Department regulations, and the Maryland Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act. Communicate information to assist caregivers in understanding resident care needs, and delegate care appropriately; supervise caregivers to ensure proper care. Explain procedures and treatments to residents; administer prescribed medications and treatments as per policy and approved nursing techniques; perform nursing procedures not delegated to caregivers (e.g., catheterization, dressing changes, injections). Record significant conditions, vital signs, weights, pain, and reactions to interventions; ensure weights are obtained per policy or as ordered; notify the DHS and physicians of a resident’s condition and reactions requiring medical attention. Make daily rounds in each building to which you are assigned to stay aware of residents’ condition and environment, ensuring nursing staff perform assignments to acceptable standards of practice. Requirements of an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) – Assisted Living Possession of a current LPN license issued by an accredited college or technical school program. Minimum of one year of experience caring for the elderly.
