Overview

Join a dedicated healthcare team as a Phlebotomist, providing essential blood collection and specimen preparation services in a clinical setting. This role offers an opportunity to utilize your expertise in phlebotomy and contribute to high-quality patient care while working a flexible schedule that includes weekdays and every other Saturday.

Responsibilities

- Perform blood draws using straight needles or butterfly needles, ensuring patient comfort and sample integrity- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens accurately according to test requirements- Collect and store specimens such as urine or fecal samples following established procedures- Explain procedures to patients clearly and courteously to ease anxiety and obtain sufficient samples- Match laboratory requisitions with specimen labels, ensuring 100% accuracy- Package specimens securely for transport, maintaining appropriate temperature conditions- Maintain proper specimen storage and handling protocols to preserve sample integrity- Record maintenance data and decontamination activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards- Follow OSHA and environmental regulations, including wearing PPE and attending annual training- Respond to laboratory inquiries by reading results and answering calls professionally- Perform other related duties as assigned to support laboratory operations

Required Skills

- Proven experience in blood draws and specimen collection- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, specimen labeling, and handling- Ability to explain procedures clearly and courteously to patients- Familiarity with laboratory requisition matching and specimen processing- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in labeling, testing, and documentation- Understanding of safety and compliance protocols in a laboratory environment

Additional Skills & Requirements

- Certification or licensure as a phlebotomist preferred; relevant training and experience required- Experience using straight needles, butterfly needles, and centrifuges- Ability to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am to 6pm, Thursday from 10am to 6pm, and every other Saturday from 10am to 2pm- knowledge of OSHA and DEP regulations is preferred- High school diploma or equivalent- Prior phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting is advantageous
