Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical ICU (MICU) position at an academic medical center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and an active MO or Compact RN license.

Details

• Night shift position, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Work in the Medical ICU (MICU) of a large academic teaching hospital
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Floating is mandatory for all travelers; ICU may float to PCU or Med/Surg units, as well as in a Patient Observer (Sitter) capacity
• Every other weekend required
• 50% of holidays falling within the contract period are required

Requirements

• Active MO or Compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration — no pending licenses accepted
• Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year of ICU-specific experience
• Experience in a large facility or academic medical center strongly preferred
• Cerner EMR experience preferred but not required
• Required skills include: IV therapy, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, arterial line management, ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, HFNC, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, CVVHD/CRRT, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Preferred skills include: port access/management, EVD management, CVA/acute stroke management, chest tube assist, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, and phlebotomy
• Must be able to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs
• 2 professional references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers will be considered if they have solid ICU experience in a large facility or academic center
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rates; local candidates residing within 75 miles may be considered at a reduced rate
• Travelers may work up to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts (9 months of consecutive service); a mandatory 6-month break is required before returning in an agency capacity
• Returning travelers who were on-site within the last 18 months do not require re-orientation
• Maximum of 10 days of requested time off (RTO) for the contract duration
• Non-billable orientation modules averaging 4–6 hours are required and completed onsite
