This is a hands-on internship that offers meaningful exposure to real-world compliance operations, intellectual property licensing, and financial analysis. The intern will work closely with experienced compliance professionals and gain practical skills in audit support, data analysis, and licensee management.This hybrid role reports to the Director of Global Compliance and is based at Via LA's headquarters in San Francisco, California. The intern is required to work on-site at least three days per week.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct internal and external market analysis and financial background research on licensees in support of compliance effortsAssist in the review of new accounts, help identify past practices, and verify initial reporting by licenseesSupport the monitoring and follow-up of email notices to licenseesHelp investigate non-reporting and non-paying licensees and assist in initiating the resolution processProvide support throughout the audit lifecycle, from audit announcement through completion, under the guidance of senior compliance staffAssist in analyzing quarterly reports submitted by licensees under their license agreements and flag discrepancies or notable changes in sales trendsSupport the identification of companies potentially infringing patents licensed through Via LA's programs and help transition leads to the appropriate regional licensing representativeAssist with quarterly segment reportingHelp create and maintain compliance records in SalesforceQualifications and Skills Required:Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Business, Economics, Accounting, or a related fieldEffective analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detailAbility to collaborate effectively with team members and cross-functional stakeholdersClear written and verbal communication skillsWell-developed interpersonal skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and OutlookPreferred:Coursework or academic exposure to accounting, auditing, finance, or intellectual propertyFamiliarity with databases, record repository applications, or CRM tools such as SalesforceInterest in technology licensing, intellectual property, or complianceFluency or proficiency in Mandarin is a strong plusWhat You'll GainPractical, real-world experience in IP licensing compliance and royalty auditingExposure to a global portfolio of licensees across the technology and entertainment industriesMentorship from experienced compliance, legal, and finance professionalsFamiliarity with industry-standard tools including Salesforce and financial reporting systemsA strong foundation for a career in compliance, audit, intellectual property, or licensingThe San Francisco/Bay Area base hourly range for this internship position is $33-38/hr and can vary if outside of this location. Our hourly ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
