2026-2027 School Year Long Term Substitute - Speech & Language Pathologist (Slp)

The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide IEP-mandated speech services to eligible students. In addition, (s)he will evaluate referred students, write related reports and share evaluation findings at PPT meetings. The SLP will consult with school staff on an as-needed basis.

Major duties and responsibilities include conducting speech, language and hearing screenings, evaluating and identifying communication disorders of the students, providing diagnostic services when appropriate, developing IEPs and implementing them accordingly, providing direct services with a varied enrollment, providing speech and language services through a collaborative-transdisciplinary model of intervention and across curriculum, participating in in-service for teachers, providing consultation services to instructional and support staff, remaining current in the field of speech and language and special education, providing therapy goals in conjunction with the department's current goals and objectives, maintaining effective contact with community agencies, demonstrating professional responsibility and concern for student's total environment, completing written reports and required documentation, participating in teacher and parent conferences, participating as a member of a transdisciplinary team, consulting with student assistance teams, participating in annual review meetings, planning curricular/instructional modifications, and meeting other assigned school responsibilities.

Required qualifications include CT certification Speech & Language Pathologist, licensure by the State of CT Board of Health, experience in writing IEP goals/objectives, experience with the PPT process, and experience in working with families from diverse backgrounds. Spanish fluency is preferred.
