Project Manager-Thermal Generation

Role Overview We are seeking a Project Manager for our Energy & Resources business line to lead multi‑discipline project teams in the execution of thermal generation projects, including simple cycle, combined cycle, and repowering projects. The Project Manager will provide leadership and ensure business line growth while consistently delivering projects successfully. In this role you will support our culture of client service, anticipate client needs, execute strategies that advance project objectives, manage risk, prioritize tasks, promote team alignment, and resolve emergent problems. The selected Project Manager will serve as a “seller‑doer,” aiding in business development and then leading projects to successful completion. Projects are located throughout North America. Key Responsibilities Provide project management expertise to the team. Manage energy projects and programs. Support and contribute to project management best practices and methodology aligned with our Project Management Framework and culture of excellence. Coordinate with leadership, discipline leads, inter‑discipline teams, high‑value engineering centers, clients, regulatory entities, vendors, and sub‑contractors. Coordinate with leadership to ensure alignment and consistency of project execution. Contribute to client satisfaction by building a culture of excellence and accountability within the Project Management community. Support client relationship management efforts through coaching and mentoring staff. Practice effective business discipline across the business line to proactively monitor resources, schedule, budget, and quality. Identify and resolve project execution gaps (people, processes, and systems) in collaboration with leadership. Provide accurate feedback and develop action plans to implement lessons learned, identify opportunities for improvement, and promote industry best practices. Support BC leadership in resource management processes, recruitment, succession planning, and coaching/mentoring for PMs and project leaders. Lead or support proposals as required. Support mentorship and development of junior staff. Achieve utilization target as agreed annually. Qualifications Engineering design and construction experience with power plant projects. Expertise in project management, including team leadership, resource management, scheduling, project controls, reporting, and document controls. Strong leader, collaborator, communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and experience managing a team. Experience leading projects utilizing delivery models such as EPC, DBB, and ECI. Knowledge of multi‑discipline engineering services related to energy projects. Experience in business development, proposal creation, and budget development. Demonstrated leadership competencies. Strong organizational skills and ability to work across multiple offices and geographies. Problem‑solving skills, including the ability to identify when a project is out of scope, schedule, or budget, and take corrective action. Ability to travel to U.S. and Canadian offices and client sites as required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, organization skills, and aptitude for problem solving. Proficient in Microsoft 365, especially Teams, SharePoint, and advanced Excel skills are beneficial. Must have a good driving record and valid driver’s license. Prior to employment, a successful drug and alcohol screen may be required. Education & Experience B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering disciplines, or related fields. Minimum of 15 years of experience working on power generation projects, as Owner’s Engineer (all phases) and/or detailed engineering/design. Minimum 5 years of experience in business development or as a “seller‑doer.” Registration as a Professional Engineer is preferred but not required. Position will primarily work in an office setting and is largely sedentary. Pay Range Locations in MN, OH, VT, & Various CA, ME, NY, VA Areas – $107,100.00 – $160,700.00 Annually Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ, VA Areas – $117,800.00 – $176,800.00 Annually Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA, VA Areas – $126,400.00 – $189,600.00 Annually Locations in NYC & CA (Bay Area) & NJ (RP) – $134,900.00 – $202,500.00 Annually Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final compensation is based on education, qualifications, experience, and location. Certain roles may be bonus eligible. Compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated per agreed hours.
