Role Description The Senior Admissions Counselor is a full-time in person role based in Aliso Viejo, CA. This role manages the admissions process from initial inquiry through intake, including responding to calls and digital inquiries, conducting pre-screen assessments, and explaining Evergrove’s programs, levels of care, and treatment options to prospective clients and their support systems. The counselor collaborates with clinical and operational teams to verify benefits, coordinate insurance authorization, schedule admissions, and ensure a smooth, respectful transition into care. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining accurate documentation, upholding confidentiality, meeting service and conversion goals, and providing trauma-informed, non-judgmental support to individuals and families exploring treatment. The Senior Admissions Counselor may also mentor junior admissions staff, contribute to process improvements, and assist with outreach or education efforts that strengthen relationships with referral partners and community organizations. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Interpersonal Communication and general Communication skills to build trust, explain complex information clearly, and support individuals in crisis. Candidates should possess Customer Service skills to deliver responsive, compassionate support and maintain a professional, client-centered experience throughout the admissions process. Candidates should possess Sales skills to ethically guide prospective clients and families through options, address concerns, and support decisions aligned with clinically appropriate care. Candidates should possess Education-related skills to provide clear information on behavioral health, treatment modalities, and program expectations to clients, families, and referral sources. Relevant experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, social services, or healthcare admissions is highly beneficial. Knowledge of insurance verification, utilization review, or managed care processes is preferred. Ability to handle sensitive conversations with empathy, maintain strict confidentiality, and practice trauma-informed communication.
