Early Head Start Teacher

Early Head Start Teacher (0-3yrs old)

Proviso Leyden Council for Community Action (PLCCA) is looking for an Early Head Start Teacher.

Worksite: Debra Ann Porter Center, 1100 W. Madison, Maywood, IL 60153

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A CDA, AA, AS in Child Development, BS in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Experience teaching in an early childhood setting working with infants and toddlers preferred.
• General knowledge of growth patterns and sensitivity to young children's and their parent's needs.
• Appropriate judgment in the areas of child supervision and safety, as well as parent relations.
• Accuracy in the assessment of children's development and children's needs.
• Ability to communicate with children, parents, local administrative staff, and grantee staff, with special sensitivity to the issues of the poverty population.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written).
• Must be physically able to perform the job of a preschool teacher (e.g., lift children and/or equipment 40 lbs.; stoop, bend, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.

PRINCIPLE OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To provide a successful, safe and supervised educational setting for children while they are in the Early Head Start Child Care Partnership environment (classroom, outdoor play area, and indoor field trips).

Develop individual goals for children, provide on-going assessment on progress and facilitate transition into Head Start or other pre-school settings. The Infant Toddler Teacher will promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Early Head Start children.

Encourage parent involvement in all aspects of the program. Must meet requirements per Federal Head Start Performance Standards and any local, state and/or agency policies and procedures.

SALARY:
$38,000 Annually
