Special Education Behavior Support Aide at Aspire Academy Gary, IN, United States Job Description This position is full-time, 35 hours per week. School Information Located in Gary, IN, Aspire Academy opened in 2008 and serves 650+ K-8 students every year. At Aspire, you can connect passion with purpose. Duties and Responsibilities Assess student abilities and provide instructional and behavioral assistance for students in accordance with their individual education plan (IEP) and/or their 504‑behavior plan as directed by the special education team. Support can be provided 1:1 or in small groups. Commit to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially. Implement result‑driven curriculum and instruction specially designed to meet the unique needs of each student resulting from his/her disability such as, resource room, inclusion and/or pullout services. Assist the team in development of a program of behavior support and assistance. Implement behavior assistance program using specialized skills of a registered behavior technician. Attend professional development, specialized trainings and IEP meetings with special education team and parents as required. Assist with the required compliance documentation. Qualifications Ability to defuse situations and prevent escalation. Experience supporting individuals with disabilities and behavior modifications. Aptitude to understand and navigate technical systems. Must meet state requirements for being a paraprofessional. Must have training and experience in a research‑based behavior program.
