Clinical – Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate
• Perform hearing screenings and vision testing to assist in patient assessments
• Prepare patients for examinations and record relevant medical histories, medications, and allergies
• Set up and assist with procedures such as nebulizer treatments and injections, including immunizations
• Collect and label specimens such as throat swabs, urine samples, and perform venipuncture
• Conduct basic laboratory tests like blood glucose via glucometer
• Manage office duties including pharmacy call backs, patient refill requests, and telephone triage
• Assist with rooming patients, suture removal, and administration of TB tests
• Perform follow-up calls and facilitate communication between patients and providers

Required Skills

• Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA-C) is required; registration, phlebotomy, or hemodialysis certifications are not acceptable
• At least 1 year of experience working as an MA-C in an adult outpatient clinic setting
• Ability to obtain vital signs, perform hearing and vision screening, and assist with procedures
• Proficiency in recording patient histories, medication information, and allergies
• Experience with specimen collection, lab tests, and basic office duties
• Flexibility to work a 4-day schedule, 10-hour shifts from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Wednesday and Friday, with Thursdays and weekends off

Additional Skills & Requirements

• Current valid state license, with a compact license preferred
• Experience with electronic charting systems such as EPIC is preferred but not required
• Candidates must be able to work in a pediatric clinic environment and be comfortable performing routine procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting
• Willingness to commit to three of the five major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Must include responses to prior work at Providence facilities and references covering one year within the last three years
